Sanmeet (name not changed) is classified as ever-smiling. However, when I met my friend two months ago, worry lines had made a guest appearance on his face.
‘What's the matter? Have you just discovered that you are over the hill?’ I asked, trying to cheer him up with some crass humour. The steam vent opened up. ‘Bringing up two offspring at my home is tougher than managing sixty employees in my factory. My younger son is on his smartphone all the time. I am thinking of denying him access to his phone for a few days to de-addict him from devices.’
I replied, ‘That would be the equivalent of treating a disease by eliminating the sufferer! He will revolt. Try to involve him in sports, reading and other activities.’ Of course. I didn't expect Sanmeet to act on my suggestion. Nowadays, paid advice carries more weight than free advice.
