GABBY'S DOLLHOUSE
The Daily Guardian
|October 18, 2025
Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie is a vivid, fast-paced adventure about creativity, friendship, and the importance of keeping your playful spirit alive.
Directed by Ryan Crego, the film mixed-media journey that blends real life and animation. Laila Lockhart Kraner as Gabby delivers a performance with a confidence that feels both fresh and nostalgic, radiating warmth and colour.
While the film has quite a philosophical undercurrent, taking about growing up without growing dull, it is the brilliance of colourful characters that kids are going to love. The film opens with Gabby and her Grandma Gigi, played by the legendary Gloria Estefan, setting off on a road trip. But the adventure quickly takes a turn when Gabby's dollhouse, the magical structure where her feline friends live, accidentally tumbles away and ends up in the hands of Vera, an eccentric cat collector portrayed by Kristen Wiig in a delightfully offbeat performance.
Vera embodies the adult who has forgotten how to have fun. She dresses like her cats, obsesses over control, and unwittingly becomes the mirror opposite of Gabby, who is a cute woman but disconnected from genuine joy.
