Understanding Mental Health and Its Challenges Mental health disorders encompass a wide range of conditions including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and many others. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), nearly 1 in 8 people globally live with a mental disorder. These conditions can severely affect personal, social, and occupational functioning, often causing distress to individuals and their families. Mental health challenges arise due to various factors such as genetics, trauma, chronic stress, substance abuse, and socio-economic difficulties. These disorders, if left untreated, can lead to deterioration in physical health, increased risk of suicide, and a diminished ability to enjoy life.

Therapies in mental health refer to systematic, evidence-based approaches designed to help individuals understand and manage their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Unlike medications that work chemically on the brain, therapies provide psychological support and skills development.
