Congress needs strengthening, discipline: Digvijaya Singh

Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Sunday clarified that he has been fighting the BJP and the RSS for the past 50 years in the Assembly, Parliament and within the organisation, citing deep ideological differences, and asserted that he will continue to do so.

Singh, a two-time former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the party’s 141st foundation day celebrations at the new party headquarters, Indira Bhawan. “Whatever I had to say, I have already said. Please understand one thing: for 50 years I have been in the Congress party and I have fought these communal forces wherever I was—whether in the Assembly, Parliament or the organisation,” he said.

Elaborating further, Singh said in Hindi that he has fundamental and ideological differences with them and has consistently fought that ideology, adding that he will continue to do so in the future.

When asked whether his remarks were aimed at strengthening the party, he said, “Every organisation needs strengthening.”
