BJP Govt Neglecting Haryana's Shivalik Region, No Board Meeting in 10 Years: Vijay Bansal

Shivalik Vikas Manch State President and Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee former Secretary Vijay Bansal Advocate, while accusing the BJP government of ignoring the Shivalik region Kalka, Pinjore Morni and three districts of the region Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Ambala during its 11-year tenure, said that due to the efforts of the then Kalka MLA Chaudhary Chandra Mohan and Shivalik Vikas Manch President Vijay Bansal Advocate, the then Chaudhary Bhajanlal Congress government had formed the Shivalik Development Board for the development of the Shivalik region in the year 1993.

But the present BJP government has almost ended the budget of the Shivalik Development Board, due to which all the development projects in the hilly area and the semi-mountainous region are stalled and development work is not being done.

It is noteworthy that Advocate Vijay Bansal had sought information from the Shivalik Vikas Board under the RTI Act 2015 about how many meetings of the Board have been held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister after the year 2014 because the Chief Minister is the Chairman of the Board, while the Commissioner of Ambala Division is its Secretary and there is also a separate Executive Officer of the Shivalik Vikas Agency whose office is located in Ambala.

It also has government and non-government members who prepare proposals for implementing the development projects and funds are released for the development projects in the meeting of the Shivalik Vikas Board chaired by the Chief Minister.

Advocate Vijay Bansal told that as per the information received from RTI, it has been astonishing to know that the last meeting was held on 23 April 2015 under the chairmanship of the then Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar.
