Akhilesh faces flak for comments on Ayodhya rape case
The Daily Guardian
|August 05, 2024
Even as Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday urged the court to ensure the Ayodhya rape victim’s safety considering the sensitivity and seriousness of the matter, he faced flak from a host of political leaders for this stance on the issue.

“The government should ensure the best medical care for the rape victim. The government is responsible for protecting the girl’s life. I humbly request the Honorable Court to take suo motu cognizance of the situation and ensure the victim’s safety under its supervision, considering the sensitivity and seriousness of the matter,” Akhilesh said in a social media post. “The malicious intent of certain individuals to politicize such incidents should never succeed,” he added in the post.
Targeting the Samajwadi Party chief over the Ayodhya gang rape case, Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi said that everybody knows about Akhilesh’s sentiments and he should not try to save anybody till the probe completes. “In connection with the Ayodhya incident, an FIR has been registered against Samajwadi Party leaders and they have been arrested. Everybody knows about Akhilesh Yadav’s sentiments; he should not try to save anybody till the probe is completed,” Tyagi said.
