Proposal for green recycling centre causes major stink

PLANS to build a facility to recycle wood and green waste near a village have generated a huge wave of opposition, with more than 120 people airing their concerns on Cornwall Council’s online planning portal.

The loss of countryside, smell, contamination of nearby waterways, noise, road safety and even arsenic poisoning are among the reasons cited by locals for refusing the proposal.
The family-run Green Waste Company wants to build a plant to recycle wood and green waste and produce compost at Roseworthy Hill in Connor Downs. It would comprise a commercial-scale agricultural building, an attenuation pond, a weighbridge, access roads and parking. The firm already has two recycling sites, at Higher Brynn, near Victoria, and Splattenridden Farm, near St Erth.
