SA slightly undercooked

The Citizen

The Proteas are unfortunately heading into the World Test Championship final against Australia at Lord's slightly undercooked, after their warm-up Test against Zimbabwe was basically washed out last week.

- with Ross Roche

The four-day game, which was their only warm-up together before the final, saw just one day of play possible, after days one, three and four were completely rained out.

Day two saw them bat for 79 overs, scoring 313/7, including four players retired out, and getting nine batters some time at the crease, before declaring and bowling 11 overs at Zimbabwe through four bowlers.

It is thus going to be quite hard for the team to hit the ground running, especially since most of them have either not played or have only been playing limited overs cricket.
