PPC to build R3bn cement plant in the Western Cape

JSE-listed cement and building material producer PPC has signed a memorandum of agreement to construct a new R3 billion cement plant in the Western Cape, it announced on Sens on Thursday morning.
The construction will be in partnership with Sinoma, a Chinese cement maker, following a cooperation agreement between the entities in July last year.
PPC shares firmed over 1.47% in early morning trade, trading at R4.82 at around 10am.
The announcement of the new state-of-the-art plant comes amid signals that the South African construction industry is poised for significant growth, with more than R300 billion earmarked for public infrastructure projects.
