RUST-EN-VREDE: TOP 40 FINALISTS REPRESENT PROVINCES >>→ From Joburg to KZN and Bloemfontein, connecting audiences through art.
The Rust-en-Vrede Top 40 Tour launched at Aspire Art in Johannesburg last week, coinciding with First Thursdays on the Keyes Art Mile.
Featuring works by artists from across SA, the national tour travels to three provinces, bringing leading contemporary portraiture to wider audiences.
Founded in 2013, the biennial Portrait Awards celebrate South Africa's portrait artists.
Submissions span oil, mixed media, realism, and abstraction, offering a vivid snapshot of identity and talent.
This year's winner, Malik Mani, was announced on 29 August for his hyper-realistic drawing Mask, earning R150 000 and a solo exhibition at Rust-en-Vrede in 2027.
Joining him in the Top Three are Ashley Ogilvy (second place) and Joseph Dolby (third place), both from the Western Cape.
