MELLOW: CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IS SCANT AND IN THE END MAIN CHARACTER BECOMES IRRELEVANT
It's got B-grade written all over it but, surprisingly, Dangerous is a decently watchable movie currently streaming on Amazon Prime.
Like so many of the latter-day Bruce Willis flicks, this 2021 movie sees Mel Gibson dropped in every now and then to easily provide the film's star-turn with his top billing.
He adds flavour, but Scott Eastwood's stoic lead performance takes the cake, sometimes.
Eastwood plays Dylan Forrester, or simply D. He's a former Navy SEAL with a dark past. An unrepentant psychopath, known to military colleagues as an empathy-free killing machine.
And he returns home, pill popping to keep his dark passenger at bay, for his brother's funeral.
At its beginning, D is, of course, shunned by his family for the man he had become and the shame he brought onto the family.
While he's on a quest for redemption, nobody seems to want to hug him back until the baddies rock up.
In between we see D turn to his cocktail of meds and telephonic advice from his psychiatrist, a mostly tipsy yet oddly affable character played by Gibson.
