Football is a funny old sport, and it's crazy how quickly people forget. Just a little under a year ago, Ademola Lookman propelled Atalanta to their first major piece of silverware in 61 years.
The Nigerian international scored a hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen as Atalanta made history by capturing their first continental trophy.
The Bergamo-based club's only other triumph came in the Coppa Italia during the 1962-63 season. It was also Gian Piero Gasperini's first title as a senior coach and this makes Lookman an invaluable member of the Atalanta team.
Comments made by his coach Gasperini in the aftermath of Atalanta's loss to Club Brugge in the Uefa Champions League were unforgivable.
