Dismay as utility unveils intention to switch off lights

Eskom has started implementing stage 3 load shedding.
Minister of Electricity Kgosientsho Ramokgopa said the country had been hit by a "perfect storm".
Ramokgopa provided an update on the country's electricity generation performance yesterday following an announcement by the parastatal of a high risk of stage 4 load shedding at short notice.
The warning came after more than 10 months of uninterrupted electricity supply.
The minister said Eskom's leadership was exceptionally disappointed that it had to take the step after 10 months without load shedding.
Meanwhile, the National Energy Regulator of South Africa's (Nersa) approval of electricity tariff hikes has sparked widespread backlash among some political parties.
Nersa announced the tariff increases yesterday, building on its previous 4% increase.
