Collapsed temple now crime scene

Substandard concrete and reinforced steel plus lack of building plans and oversight are being cited as the cause of the collapse of the Verulam temple in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure Dean Macpherson yesterday presented the preliminary findings of an investigation into last week's accident in the town about 30km north of Durban, which killed five people.
He said the site of the collapsed temple had been declared a crime scene.
The department of public works and infrastructure is also looking for the company that supplied the concrete to determine where else it was used.
