Capital city's finances 'stable' after a year, says mayor
The Citizen

Exactly a year after taking over the Tshwane mayoral chain following the ousting of DA mayor Cilliers Brink, ActionSA's Nasiphi Moya hailed her administration's successes at a special event held at a sports stadium in Tshwane.
This, however, comes against the backdrop of a forensic report regarding her deputy, the ANC's Eugene Modise, who is also the member of the mayoral committee for finance. The contents of the report have not yet been shared with the council, but are said to be explosive.
In addition, her administration has been under fire for instituting a cleaning levy that was ruled unlawful by the high court.
After being refused leave to appeal, the city has petitioned the Supreme Court of Appeal.
While the matter is still pending, it has caused confusion in the billing department, with uncertainty about whether the right people have been charged the cleaning levy and credits being passed and later reversed.
'The progress is real'
"One year later, Tshwane is turning a corner. The progress is real. The foundation is stronger," said Moya.
