A holiday flutter in the Sun

High-rollers headed to the Mother City for the holidays will find a lot of eye-popping changes at Sun International's flagship GrandWest, with a R30-million renovation of the salon privé, lounge and dining area having been completed as the first phase of a major makeover.
At the same time, the hotel (recently upgraded from lodge status) at the company's Golden Valley Casino in Worcester is displaying unprecedented elegance. This was made possible when Sun International's five-star Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town closed for renovations earlier this year, allowing high-end furnishings and decorative fittings to be sent to the Breede River Valley.
The Golden Valley Hotel retains its three-star rating but is now marketing itself and Worcester as a destination, rather than a convenience for punters to rest before taking on the slots and tables again.
