NEWCASTLE United boss Eddie Howe refused a last-gasp approach to sell club captain Jamaal Lascelles this month.

An offer was on the table from Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig but, despite having multiple centre-halves, Howe was keen to keep his influential and longserving dressing-room leader.
Lascelles has one year left on his current contract and the opportunity to win a further extension, with Howe giving him his first Premier League appearance in 18 months on Sunday after a cruciate ligament injury.
