We're under witchcraft's spell

Straight Talk

- SUSAN LEE Columnist

EARLIER this week I interviewed a witch.

She was a nice woman, a grandma from the Midlands, and about as far away from having a pointy hat and a broomstick as it's possible to get.

I did notice she wore a cloak but it is October so I let it slide.

What I couldn't overlook, though, was her assertion there had been a huge uptick in interest in witchcraft of late and that, far from hiding in dark forests cackling round a cauldron, witches are now almost mainstream.

OK, perhaps mainstream is going a bit far but, certainly in terms of her own coven, it's far from hidden and has its own website and waiting list.
