SUNDERLAND CAN EASILY STAY UP INSISTS FORMER WINGER

- By CLIVE YOULTON Football writer

FORMER Sunderland winger Chris Waddle reckons his old rivals - and former club - Sunderland don’t look out of place in the Premier League.

The ex-England and Newcastle United winger also believes the Black Cats have no reason to fear anyone after their excellent start to life in the Premier League.

Speaking to Boyle Sports, Waddle said: “Let's be honest, a lot of the players Sunderland signed were unknown, apart from Granit Xhaka.

“Xhaka has been unbelievable. He's a different player from what people remember at Arsenal. Leverkusen gave him the freedom to play, get on the ball, and he’s continued that at Sunderland.

“When you have experienced players on the pitch, you can guide younger players.
