A HUGE national challenge saw teams from Armed Forces charity Walking With The Wounded reach the Fusilier Memorial near to Newcastle Civic Centre after a 700km trek across the country.
Walking With the Wounded's team on Tyneside as they completed the last leg of a 700km trek
Current and former Armed Forces personnel were joined by family and supporters on the 18-day challenge - which saw them drag a sled, or 'pulk, that was previously taken to the North Pole with Prince Harry.
The final leg, between Chester-le-Street and Newcastle, finished on Monday evening.
Pictures showed the team reaching the war memorial and laying a commemorative wreath. This formed part of the charity's Walking Home For Christmas - and Long Way Home - campaigns.
Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) supports those who have served in the Armed Forces with services to help with mental health, employment and wraparound care.
