A clutch of contracts this summer needed to be looked at with Eddie Howe knowing that dressing-room harmony going into the long hard winter will be important.

Here are the players who will soon be seeking clarification on their future, while some decisions have already been made on the deals that run out in 2026.

KIERAN TRIPPIER: The former England fullback does not have a clause in place that will trigger his existing deal on Tyneside, meaning he will be free to leave at the end of the season and able to talk to overseas clubs in January unless an offer is tabled.

The 35-year-old still has good years left in him after looking after himself while his experience and know-how is worth its weight in gold.

This season Trippier’s presence behind the scenes has been vital and, with Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento injured, he has been one of the first names on the team sheet.
