ARTWORK CREATED TO MARK TOWN'S 800TH ANNIVERSARY
Mural by artist Nina Valkhoff in North Shields
A MURAL in the region is up for an award for 2025’s Best Mural of the World by Street Art Cities.
Last August, we reported on the lasting impact murals in North Shields would have on the community after they were created for the North Shields Elevation Mural Festival as part of the wider celebrations of North Shields 800th anniversary, and now one of them is up for a top award.
StreetArtCities.com is the world’s largest international urban art community for street artists and fans of their work.
The Chase by Nina Valkhoff, on Norfolk Street, is one of 40 other entries from around the world for the award. The picture is a stunning scene of drama beneath the waves as two gannets and a cormorant are captured mid chase for a rather unfortunate fish.
