Opposition leader stepping down to take up new role in Parliament

NORTH Tyneside's Tory opposition leader is stepping down from the post after taking a new job in Parliament.

Liam Bones has confirmed he is leaving his role as leader of the North Tyneside Conservatives, though he will stay on as a councillor for the Preston with Preston Grange ward. It comes after Coun Bones, who also stood in North Tyneside's mayoral election this year, started a new job as an assistant to Tory MP Wendy Morton.
