June 20, 2025

Northumberland County Council is marking Employability Day 2025 by throwing open the doors to a new generation of apprentices, offering young people and career changers alike the chance to build their futures in local government.

As part of its ongoing commitment to skills, growth and opportunity, the Council has announced the launch of a wide range of apprenticeships starting this September, with applications now open across dozens of service areas.

From business administration and civil engineering to hospitality, highways, horticulture and digital marketing, the Council's apprenticeship programme offers something for everyone, whether you're just leaving school or looking to retrain in a different career. These roles are designed to help people earn while they learn, gaining hands-on experience, structured mentoring and nationally recognised qualifications, all while delivering vital services in the communities they call home.

INVESTING IN LOCAL TALENT

Employability Day, which this year falls on Friday 20 June, is a national celebration of the organisations and individuals working to get people into jobs, training and long-term careers. It's also a moment to shine a spotlight on the real-life impact of employability support.
