A NEWCASTLE nail technician who skipped sleep for 24 hours during an overnight 'nail-a-thon' has raised over £2,000 for a baby charity. Lucy Walton held the all-nighter at her studio in Heaton, Newcastle, in aid of Tiny Lives.

- By DAVID HUNTLEY

The 28-year-old started the challenge at 10am on Friday morning and powered through 16 intricate 90-minute appointments. Lucy, who co-owns Skullen Studios, decided to take on the challenge after being touched by the stories of two of her clients, who had relied on Tiny Lives after having difficult births.

She said: "I can’t lie, the challenge was absolutely exhausting, and by the end I was just surviving on caffeine and adrenaline, but it’s nothing compared to the struggles that any families have had to go through that have used Tiny Lives. I was incredibly touched by the amount of people who booked in, bought raffle tickets and donated to my Just Giving page - and I was very lucky that I also had lots of loved ones popping in all night bringing me coffee and sweet treats to get my through.
