Music lover Jack to open own shop
The Chronicle
|June 16, 2025
A YOUNG entrepreneur who turned his love for music into a vinyl record business is preparing to launch his first dedicated shop in Newcastle.
Jack Holmes, 24, has been running Spinning Superiority Records in Ouseburn since he was 16 and studying business at Gateshead College.
The music fanatic started by doing pop-up shops in bars, cafes and other venues around Newcastle and Gateshead.
Just before Covid he set up a concession within Heaton-based department store of independent sellers, Flea Circus, and also branched out into selling A3 music posters in a range of shops including Fannies Emporium in Morpeth, Friday Vintage in Newcastle city centre and Redbrick Market in Liverpool.
Mr Holmes is also a regular stallholder at Jesmond market and occasionally Ouseburn and Newcastle Quayside markets. And under the name Keep It Spinning, he also DJs at Newcastle bar Billy Bootleggers, along with parties, weddings and other events.
