Mariners boss urges in-form side to maintain flying start
The Chronicle
|August 25, 2025
IAN Watson insisted South Shields can't afford to 'take their foot off the gas' after the Mariners steamrollered Chester 4-0 to maintain their perfect start to the National League North season.
-

Watson's men made it four wins from four, with goals from Paul Blackett (2), Dan Dodds and Cain Sykes ahead of their Bank Holiday Monday trip to Bedford Town.
Watson said: “The players have been incredible, I can’t ask any more of them, their dedication is inspiring to see and they are getting the rewards.
“But we will keep working harder, we won't take our foot off the gas, we will continue pushing forwards.”
Spennymoor Town also bounced back from a midweek defeat as they claimed three points at Oxford City.
Rob Ramshaw put the Moors in front midway through the first half but the visitors got back on level-terms just after the half-hour mark with a goal from Zac McEachran.
However, the Moors would not be denied and Glen Taylor fired home a fine free-kick with five minutes left.
The Moors entertain Macclesfield today.
