Man charged with attempted murder after street attack

A MAN has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following an altercation on a Newcastle street.

A huge emergency response was scrambled to Hotch Pudding Place in East Denton on Friday night.
Residents saw a huge police presence on the street and a helicopter hovering overhead following the incident. A cordon remained in place until Saturday morning.
Northumbria Police has since confirmed that Jordan Lockyer, 39, of Denham Gardens, Fenham, has been charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of possession of a bladed article.
He appeared at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court yesterday, entering no pleas to either charge.
