Locals claim that new plans won't halt 'inconsiderate' school run parking

RESIDENTS who live near a Newcastle school say new parking permit proposals will do nothing to stop “inconsiderate” parking during the school run.

Some sections of Newton Road in High Heaton are permit parking only, but the east end, near the Corner House Pub, has fewer parking restrictions.

Residents say that this has led to parents and sixth-formers parking on dropped kerbs and blocking access to driveways. Some have even reported receiving abuse from parents, who they claim “think they have a right to park there.”

It has led to some people who are “beyond furious” putting up no parking signs on their properties. Jane Cross hasn't put signs up herself, but says that the issue has been going on for years.
