SUNDERLAND Women's head coach Mel Reay expressed her delight with her team’s performance as the Lasses concluded their Subway League Cup campaign with a dramatic shootout win over rivals Durham.

It ended 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in normal time.
Emily Scarr struck for her sixth of the season shortly after the interval, calmly finishing an inch-perfect through ball from Katie Kitching to give Sunderland a well-earned advantage.
