Mr and Mrs Sandhu inside their general store

A SUNDERLAND family is being celebrated for the warm welcome they give to the local community in their general store and Post Office.

Shopkeepers and postmasters Mr and Mrs Sandhu are the worthy winners of the Autumn Community Award winner in association with the National Federation of Retail Newsagents (NFRN) and Reach plc.

The family have operated their business in Hetton Road since 2016 and at the moment it's getting very spooky, in the run up to Halloween.

Right now, they have all sorts of ghostly treats on offer including decorations, pumpkins, chocolates, and sweets for children.

Next month, they will be moving on to their Christmas range, with festive gifts, snacks, and seasonal goodies.
