Historic library grant will ‘secure future' in 200th anniversary year

NEWCASTLE'S Lit & Phil library has received a grant it says will help secure its future and build and broaden its audience as it celebrates its 200th anniversary.

The historic library on Westgate Road has received development funding of £274,263 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The neoclassical building is the biggest independent library outside of London and is home to more than 200,000 books and an important music collection.
