SUBMISSIONS CALL FOR NEXT YEAR'S SUMMER SCULPTURE TRAIL

- By SAM VOLPE

Could you paint a Peter Rabbit?

The trail will launch in July

ARTISTS across the North are being urged to submit designs that could be painted onto the sculptures of Peter Rabbit which will appear around Tyneside next summer.

The Peter Rabbit: Tales on the Tyne project is to be the latest free public art trail in aid of St Oswald’s Hospice.

The charity's plans will see around 50 giant fibreglass sculptures appear and artists both professional and amateur are asked to submit their ideas.

The project follows the Great North Snowdogs, Elmer's Great North Parade and Shaun the Sheep on the Tyne in previous years.

The trail’s headline partner is Newcastle City Council, with support from the North East Combined Authority. Artists chosen will receive a £900 commission fee and their work could be seen by an estimated 800,000 people.
