Cannabis farm found in house at Darras Hall

A home on an upmarket estate was found to contain a cannabis farm worth more than £50,000.

Police attended a property on Darras Road, Darras Hall, Ponteland, on October 7, 2019, and discovered the drugs factory with Martin Hawdon and Scott Patterson inside, busy moving soil.
Jessica Slaughter, prosecuting, told Newcastle Crown Court: "The address was insecure and there was a strong smell of cannabis from inside. Officers found a cannabis farm with 99 plants in three rooms. It was an elaborate and sophisticated setup.
"Both defendants were on a landing area, moving soil."
On Hawdon's phone, police found messages in which he was asking Patterson for advice on how to manage the plants and the valuation of the crop.
