Burglary victim confronted duo in raid on home

PAIR JAILED FOR A COMBINED FIVE YEARS

TWO men have been jailed for a combined five years after they burgled a home in Gateshead and were confronted by the brave victim.

In the early hours of Friday, May 2, the man woke to the sounds of people downstairs in his Felling home.

He went down to investigate and found that his TV, a Fitbit watch and cash were all missing, and he then saw the two men in his car about to drive off with the items. The victim went out to oppose the pair, persuading them to get out of his vehicle before they fled the scene on foot.

The victim then passed on descriptions of the offenders to Northumbria Police, with officers later arresting Stephen Mitchison and Lee Cook at Heworth Metro Station, with the Fitbit and the cash still in their possession.
