A BOUNCER who left a keen rugby player and amateur boxer with broken bones in his face after delivering a flurry of punches during a violent struggle has been spared jail.

- By ROB KENNEDY

The victim was leaving The Social Club, in Newcastle, around 2.45am on October 22 last year, when he accidentally knocked into a woman while walking through a crowd.

The man said another bouncer “charged” towards him and grabbed hold of his arms and fellow bouncer, Toby Adeniji, then arrived.

One door staff member shoved his head down towards the floor and two bouncers were restraining him, Newcastle Crown Court heard.

After being punched in the abdomen, Adeniji is captured on CCTV responding by punching the victim in the face and head four times.

Rachel Butt, prosecuting, said: “The complainant was swinging his fists and arms out towards this defendant. The defendant responded by punching at him about four times.”

The victim suffered a fractured eye socket and nasal bones. He said his next recollection was waking up in an ambulance in “extreme pain”.
