A NORTHUMBERLAND National Trust property has doubled its number of beavers to eight in 2025.

- Emily Johnson, Wallington

Two kits were born on the Wallington Estate earlier this year, with camera trap footage showing the first sightings of the young rodents with their mother in July.

However, rangers were recently amazed to find that a further two were born this summer. After signs of activity in a previously unvisited part of the enclosure, wildlife cameras were set up, later revealing that there were four beaver kits in total; which has been described as a “very exciting discovery”.
