Bay history in Vase after paying the penalty against Barton

Whitley Bay bowed out of the FA Vase at the first round stage, losing on penalties after a 0-0 draw with Barton Town at Hillheads

The sides failed to break the deadlock over the course of a difficult 90 minutes at Hillheads as several opportunities to secure progression were squandered. And there was further frustration for Whitley as they played against 10 men for the final 10 minutes after Barton defender Fraser Papprill saw red.

To add insult to injury, a penalty shootout went the way of the visitors, which left Rizza to deliver an honest assessment.
