Banned driver clocked 140mph

A BANNED BMW driver who reached speeds of 140mph on the Al as he tried to outrun police has been jailed.
Ian Boyd carried out a series of dangerous manoeuvres on three major North East roads in a desperate attempt to avoid capture.
Police had signalled for Boyd to pull over in a BMW in Blyth on November 18 but he ignored them and tried to get away. He hit speeds of up to 90mph in a 30 zone and went through a red light, then at Moor Farm Roundabout, on the A189, he momentarily lost control and went around the roundabout the wrong way.
He then reached 100mph on the A19 before clocking 140mph on the Al.
