£1.25m funding boost for North East museums

MUSEUMS across the North East from Jarrow Hall to Sunderland’s Winter Gardens are to share a £1.25m funding boost, the Government has announced.

The cash, which comes from the Government’s Museum Renewal Fund, will support publicly-owned museums across the region.
Five organisations which run the museums will have a share of the cash. Government minister Baroness Twycross said the hope was that the funding would help venues stay open and provide opportunities for future generations.
