£1,000 shopflifting spree couple narrowly avoid jail

TWO prolific thieves who have spent the last 12 months blighting shops and businesses around Newcastle stole more than £1,000-worth of goods during their latest shoplifting spree.
William Laws and Chantelle Hutchinson leave Newcastle Magistrates' Court
Parents William Laws and Chantelle Hutchinson repeatedly targeted retail premises in order to fund their drug habits.
In the past month, Hutchinson, 36, stole from 12 shops, while Laws, 40, stole from six.
The premises targeted included TK Maxx, Aldi and Poundland, and the goods taken were worth a total “in excess of “£1,000", a court was told.
