Parents speak about alleged encounter with killer nurse Letby

- BY LIAM MCINERNEY

MUM and dad who claim they had personal encounters with Lucy Letby have broken their silence for the first time - alleging the convicted nurse laughed in their faces when they feared something terrible had happened to their child.

The pair made the startling disclosure in a new Channel 4 documentary titled Lucy Letby: Murder or Mistake which was broadcast on Monday (September 29).

Letby is serving a life sentence for the murders of seven infants and the attempted murders of seven others while employed as a nurse at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Regarding their decision to now speak about their experience, the mother explained: “The only people who know are our close friends and family. We have never gone public at all. It is nice to be able to tell our story because so many people have an opinion but they weren't actually there.”

The couple, who chose to remain anonymous, detailed how their son was delivered at the Countess of Chester Hospital in 2015. They characterised him as full-term and healthy, noting the pregnancy had proceeded without complications.
