COME and experience a sporting event full of thrills as 10,000 runners take to the streets in an epic sporting spectacle.

"There can't be a better way to spend a Sunday morning!" say the organisers of the MBNA Chester Marathon who are inviting people to experience the drama and excitement as Chester plays host to a record number of athletes pounding the streets and roads in the surrounding picturesque countryside this Sunday.

"Thousands of runners, of all abilities, streaming through the city streets is a stirring sight," said managing director Callum Shields.

"From the event's traditional base at Chester Racecourse at 9am where they will be started by former British Olympic champion Dame Denise Lewis, this year’s record field of runners head into the city centre passing the Town Hall, Cathedral, Eastgate Clock, Amphitheatre and through the Walls before heading out of the city across the Old Dee Bridge.

"This route offers fabulous vantage points for spectators in the city especially from the City Walls as runners pass under three city gates early in the event.
