The National Assembly is set to amend the Pension Reform Act (PRA) 2014, with plans to enhance retirement benefits and address emerging sector challenges.

Hussaini Jalo, Chairman of the House Committee on Pensions, disclosed this during a stakeholders’ engagement session in Abuja, urging input on key areas for revision.

Kamoru Ogunlana, Clerk of the National Assembly, revealed that workers are pushing to return to the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), as outlined in a memorandum submitted to the committee.

This comes after the 2023 National Assembly Service Pensions Board Act created a separate pension board, removing personnel from the CPS under the 2014 PRA.
