After nearly eight years of litigation, the National Industrial Court (NIC) sitting in Lagos has ordered Fidelity Bank Plc to pay N162.2 million in unpaid retirement benefits to nine former employees who resigned from the bank in 2016 after serving for over 15 years.

- BY MARY AFOLABI

Delivering judgment in Suit No. NICN/LA/293/2017 on May 6, 2025, Hon. Justice R.H. Gwandu held that the claimants were entitled to their full retirement benefits, having disengaged lawfully. The court gave Fidelity Bank 30 days to comply with the order, failing which the judgment sum will attract a 10 percent interest per annum.
