SGPC starts visa process for Pakistan Sikh pilgrimage amid travel concerns

Even as uncertainty prevails over travel to Pakistan via the Attari-Wagah land route due to restrictions imposed by the Union Government following the recent Pahalgam terror attack, the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has begun preparations to send a Sikh jatha to Pakistan for Guru Nanak Dev Ji's birth anniversary celebrations in November.
On Thursday, SGPC announced that it has initiated the visa process for sending Sikh pilgrims to Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib, the revered birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, and other historic Sikh shrines across Pakistan. Devotees who wish to be part of the pilgrimage have been asked to submit their passports and ID proof along with a recommendation letter from the concerned SGPC member to the SGPC Yatra Department by August 4.
