SC to hear all online gaming GST cases together

The Supreme Court has taken a significant step by consolidating multiple petitions challenging the imposition of a 28% Goods and Services Tax (GST) on online gaming companies.

During a hearing led by a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud on Friday, the court ordered the transfer of 27 writ petitions pending in 11 high courts across the country to be heard collectively.
These petitions will now be heard together with a petition filed by Gameskraft, as well as writs by EGF and Play Games24x7. The court has directed the Union government to file counter affidavits in all writ petitions within three weeks. The consolidated case is scheduled to be heard during the last week of April.
