Inland fish production soars to 131 lakh tonnes in 9 years: Rupala

The country's inland fish production has more than doubled in the previous nine years to 131 lakh tonnes, according to Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Parshottam Rupala on Thursday.

This increase is a result of government actions to support this sector. The minister also emphasized that throughout the previous nine years, the Modi administration had declared plans to invest almost Rs 38,000 crore through a variety of programs. Addressing a press conference here, Rupala announced that a 'Global Fisheries Conference India 2023' is being organised in Ahmedabad from November 21-22 to discuss immense potential as well as challenges in the sector.
