Delhi launches citywide fire safety inspections

The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) on Thursday began extensive field inspections across hotels, nightclubs and restaurants to evaluate the condition and functionality of their fire safety systems, following the Goa nightclub blaze that claimed 25 lives and triggered nationwide concern over safety standards.
DFS teams were deployed across multiple zones in the national capital to check whether establishments had the minimum mandated firefighting equipment, functional alarm systems, clearly marked escape routes and adequately trained staff capable of responding swiftly in case of an emergency. Officials said that the inspections aim to identify any gaps that could put large gatherings at risk, especially as the festive season approaches.
