CSIR unveils electric tiller to revolutionize Indian agriculture

The The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI) recently unveiled its innovative Electric Tiller in Durgapur.

This cutting-edge technology, aimed at transforming the agricultural landscape for small and marginal farmers, was launched by Dr. N Kalaiselvi, Director General of CSIR and Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), according to a press release by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The Electric Tiller has been specifically designed to cater to the needs of farmers with land holdings of less than 2 hectares. This demographic constitutes over 80 percent of India's farming community, making the introduction of this tiller a significant step towards supporting their livelihood. The new tiller promises substantial benefits in terms of operational efficiency and cost reduction, addressing the unique challenges faced by these small to marginal farmers.
